Applicabilty of TRMM Precipitation for Hydrological Modeling Using HEC-HMS in Karnali River Basin in Nepal

This study aims to validate the HEC-HMS model in Karnali river basin of Nepal, while also physically verifying parameters for area. The is a semi-distributed based that requires site-specific information about weather, as well spatial on soil and land use. Using Arc-GIS, HEC-HMS, HEC DSS, hydrological rainfall runoff was developed River at Asaraghat (DHM station 240) period 1998-2005. Calibration time 1998-2001 resulted an NSE value 73.2% R2 84%. Validation 2003-2005 72.4% 82.02%. To evaluate performance TRMM 3B42V7 product, statistical indicators such were used. Results showed data reliable had good precision application Basin. concludes can be used alternative source basins with sparse rain gauge stations Nepal. results suggest modeling tool enough relate runoff. each sub-basin reaches analyzed physical characteristics watershed. Minor variations found within calibrated calculated Initial abstraction Muskingum K, x, leading verification physically.
